Seventeen weeks 1.17.2010

An onion, apparently. I preferred the fruit.

The baby now has fingerprints this week and is storing up fat deposits. I hope its growing little rolls on its legs! Plenty to squish! Also, the baby is now sensitive to touch and is able to hear outside of the womb.

Still feeling very tired. In fact, I've only been awake a total of four hours from 11pm last night to 8:33pm tonight. I just can't stay awake. But other times, I get these periods of high energy during which my whole house becomes my victim.

I'm also getting tired of eating so much crap. I was happier eating my smaller and healthier meals. The doctor informed me last week that I should have gained some weight by now but I've still been consistently losing. I eat when I'm hungry and I'm eating smart but my stomach shrank from not being able to eat much those first few months. Now my mom and Greg are teamed up to feed me as much food as possible. Greg made a huge breakfast complete with tons of bacon that he made me eat. I'm also trying to eat dairy, for the sake of the baby. I absolutely am disgusted by milk but I'm stuck drinking it. EEEwwwww. I am trying to trick myself into drinking it. I make hot chocolate or milk with strawberry syrup in it to disguise it. Greg made me some milkshakes with a bit of ice cream in them. Whatever I've got to do.

Baby is kicking away!

I still don't feel like I'm showing much. I still have that obnoxious "baby cushion" roll that, despite my weight loss everywhere else, never budged. I have a small bump below my underwear line that is obvious to Greg and I but its nothing compared to pictures of friends at 17 weeks. I can only assume its because of the rough first tri but doc says its normal not to be showing; more so because its my first.

I guess I'm gonna have to start rubbing that nasty cocoa butter stuff on me. Every time I've tried before, it made me nauseated but it should be better now. Don't want those stretch marks at 23!

February 4th we find out if its a boy or a girl. That is two days before I'm 20 weeks. It can't come fast enough. I'll let you know how that goes!!

Sixteen Weeks 1.11.10

Sixteen Weeks

So guess what!!! Baby can hear this week! It is just beginning to pick up voices. Also, it has eyebrows and eyelashes and tastebuds! That totally explains why baby goes nuts after a popsicle or other sweet is consumed.

I'm starting to get more energy. The other day, I had emptied out all of the kitchen cabinets, cleaned them and was organizing things back into them before I realized what I'd done. No complaints here! I like my kitchen so much more now! I even organized so well that I have an entire cabinet now open for baby bottles, food, bowls, etc. I really am itching to get started on the nursery but I can't do it without Greg's help (heavy lifting to clean it out). He is so busy and stressed with this Best Buy trial coming up that I don't want to bother him.....though he's napping right now.

Did you know I'm supposed to register in February? All books and timelines say you register in the 5th month of pregnancy. Wierd, huh? I think thats a little early but I like the excuse to go check things out! Honestly though, if you think about it, baby showers (traditionally) take place in the 7th month and some people might like to shop as soon as they get their invitation so I guess I can see how it makes sense. Just an FYI, I think my showers will be taking place in May so Stacie (my big sister) can be here.

Anyway, here is the food of the week:

Fifteen Weeks 1.5.2010

Fifteen Weeks

Not much to report this week. Baby is progressing well and I'm feeling better every day. Only one in 4 meals causes any neausea at all and its minor. Done throwing up!!!!!!! The cramping has kicked up a notch but I'm reading that its a good thing. Its called 'round ligament pain' which simply means that muscles are stretching because something is forcing them outward. Tee hee hee!

Baby is growing quickly now. All 4 limbs have functional joints (apparent in the frequent taps coming from those adorable, tiny feet moving their way around my belly).

My pregnancy checklist on keeps telling me I'm overdue for researching types of strollers, car seats, etc and that I should have signed us up for pregnancy and birthing classes already. I'm only showing enough for Greg and I to notice...what the heck?

I guess I'll listen and start doing research after I complete this. I'll let you know how it goes.

About Me

My photo
I'm a new wife and an even newer mom. I have a secret dream to be super-mom. I love to craft, cook, dance and fill my life with as many adventures as possible. I'm slightly crunchy granola but enjoy a good steak. I'm right brained and type B (with some type A tendencies). I thrive best when I get to use my creative juices. I dabble in photography and party planning. I play piano and have a dream to learn the cello. I want to make the most of this one, short life I find myself living.

About This Blog

This blog was originally intended to be a personal journal of my pregnancy journey and all that that entails--shared with only a few close family members. It was a way for me to keep them posted on all things baby and occasionally post a picture of my growing torso so they could see the progress. After several posts, I started to get hooked on other blogs and became motivated to attempt to do more with mine. We'll see how it goes....
