Success!! Announcing baby #2!!!

Written on 12/18/12

Well, it happened. First month off birth control. Can't believe it. I feel like I knew from a few days after ovulation though. I took one of the 6 day early tests 5 days before my missed. It was negative. I went that whole week feeling so entirely pregnant. I took several dollar store tests between the 14th, 15th and 16th (I was due to start on the 15th) and all were negative. I tried to put it out of my mind and wait a couple of days to see if I would start. On Tuesday, Dec 18th, I couldn't take it so I took one more dollar store test and it had a very very very faint second line so I took one of the more expensive ones and there it was!!! It wasn't as dark as the control line so I didn't want to say anything to Greg yet. The next morning I took another test and it was every bit as dark as the first line!! I waited but that day turned out to be a rough day all around so I thought I'd wait and tell him before we left for our date on Thursday (Wicked tickets at the Fox Theater) but that evening I just couldn't hold back. The 3 of us were just hanging around with the TV on in the background. I whispered to Cole to tell daddy that there is a baby in mommy's tummy which he did after a quick question to dad about playing hockey. Greg didn't get it. "Heh....wait....what?.....WAIT.....WHAT!!???". I video taped it on my phone but after Greg understood what was happening, he demanded I turn off the video which kind of ruined it. We let it sink in for a while and the next night was the sweetest date we've had in years! Its very true though what they say. Men become fathers when they hold their baby while women become mothers when they find out they're pregnant. I'm all in preparation mode, what can I eat, what am I not allowed to do. He doesn't think about it, talk about it or even seem to remember except for when I bring it up.
I ovulate a little later than the average woman. I was loosely charting and watching for other signs. Plus, I can always feel when I ovulate down to a few-hour time frame. So by my math, Ovulation occurred on December 3rd. That means I got a positive result from a home pregnancy test 15 days after ovulation. My due date is August 26th. Now, I had random cramping so I have a few suspicions as to when I implanted but I'm not positive so when I get an ultrasound, that due date may change. I hope not though because we would be able to safely announce the pregnancy at Valentine's day (I have a really cute announcement idea), we'd find out the sex of the baby the day of our wedding anniversary (what a fun date!), and the baby would be due on the 9 year anniversary of our first date. I think its super cute!

Anyway, here we are! I'll start official weekly posts at 6 weeks with a separate post at 5 weeks with a few details (its Christmas for crying out loud and I've got enough on my plate). I'm going to keep them private and date them for the date I wrote them and publish them all when we announce the pregnancy to the world. Sorry for clogging your reader stream on that day. :)

About Me

My photo
I'm a new wife and an even newer mom. I have a secret dream to be super-mom. I love to craft, cook, dance and fill my life with as many adventures as possible. I'm slightly crunchy granola but enjoy a good steak. I'm right brained and type B (with some type A tendencies). I thrive best when I get to use my creative juices. I dabble in photography and party planning. I play piano and have a dream to learn the cello. I want to make the most of this one, short life I find myself living.

About This Blog

This blog was originally intended to be a personal journal of my pregnancy journey and all that that entails--shared with only a few close family members. It was a way for me to keep them posted on all things baby and occasionally post a picture of my growing torso so they could see the progress. After several posts, I started to get hooked on other blogs and became motivated to attempt to do more with mine. We'll see how it goes....
