10 weeks with baby #2

How far along: 10 weeks

How big is baby: a Kumquat (a little over an inch from crown to bottom). baby center's info on baby growth at 10 weeks

Weight gain/loss: -6 lbs

Sleep: The doc gave me permission to take a Tylenol PM every night before bed to help me sleep and to control the restless leg syndrome that keeps me up.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Some days are great with no nausea but most are still pretty queasy. I think things are starting to turn for the better though. This week was much better than last week.

Movement: I know its crazy early but I have a forward tilting uterus and its just below the muscles of my abdomen. I talked to the doc about it and she thinks I may have felt the baby's spasms. Those tiny little legs are still pretty small to be kicking with any force but his whole body jolts often and we think that may be what I feel. Its at the same time every evening. I first felt it on the 20th. They feel exactly how they felt when I first was aware of Cole moving at 12 weeks. She also said because of the c-section (the scar of which is right above where I'm feeling the movement is likely making it easier to feel. Also, I have dairy intolerance so I know exactly where my intestines are when they are churning and the exact place I feel gas bubbles. This is a good few inches lower than I have ever felt gas or intestinal issues. The doc and I are both pretty sure I'm feeling actual movement. I'm curious to watch it over the next few weeks.

What I'm worrying about: Not much. I already have a hard bulge under my c-section scar so I'm feeling more confident that this baby is doing well!

What I'm loving: Feeling that hard bulge. Meals that I can tell when I first sit down to them that they are going to go down without pain or problem.

Symptoms: Nausea (threw up for the first time this pregnancy this week). Exhaustion. Still off of my prenatal vitamins for the time being. I feel so bad because Cole is watching so much TV the last few weeks. We normally allow only a few shows over the course of the day but that has been completely derailed in order to give him some form of entertainment.

What I'm looking forward to: my first ultrasound next week!

Best moment of the week: Date night with Greg where Toodles went to spend the night at Grandma's. We caught up on some DVR shows without constant interruption and actually got to cuddle on the couch while watching them!! :)   Also, 2 newborn sessions this week so I was eating up the baby snuggles and smells! Getting excited!

On fri night didn't need tylenol pm and took prenatal. Finally feeling like I may be past the worst of the nausea. So now I know that I'm truly sick and weak from weeks 6-11! Then some relief comes.
Been feeling lots of changes in my body. This kid is strong. Dances a lot. Hips hurt and are visibly widening. Lower back pressure as those bones are pushing forward. Boobs going through a second growth spurt. Belly changed even not really showing but belly went from being soft and wide from side to side to being very firm and forward pointing. Its hard to describe but looking down my soft (flubby) belly used to look flat from above because the flub was spread evenly across the width of my belly. Now the flub is basically gone and from above is rounder with a clearly defined peak above my belly button. I didn't think anyone would notice but my mom called out the changes at first sight. I felt like they all happened overnight.
Eating chicken with minimal problems again.

9 weeks with baby #2

How far along: 9 weeks

How big is baby: a Grape (1"). baby center's info on baby growth at 9 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Holding steady at -4 lbs gained.

Stretch marks: None yet this time. But, I'm sure they'll come.

A.J. is born!!

This sweet little baby absolutely stole my heart. I got to spend some time snuggling him between shots and may have become slightly (or not so slightly) addicted. He was so compliant and peaceful. I'm in love!!
Congratulations Alton and Kara on the birth of a perfect little boy!

8 weeks with baby #2

How far along: 8 weeks

How big is baby: a Kidney Bean. baby center's info on baby growth at 8 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Holding steady at -4 lbs gained.

Stretch marks: None yet this time. But, I'm sure they'll come.

Sleep: Vivid dreams started already leaving me feeling unrested when I wake. Frequent peeing (5-7 times no joke) doesn't help.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Averse to just about everything.

Movement: None yet. I felt Cole earlier than the average woman does at 12 weeks. I was a lot thinner then tho but I've also had a kid already and know what to look for so it could go either way.

What I'm worrying about: Not much. I already have a hard bulge under my c-section scar so I'm feeling more confident that this baby is going to stick.

What I'm loving: Feeling that hard bulge.

Symptoms: Nausea. Extreme fatigue. Still off of my prenatal vitamins for the time being.

What I'm looking forward to: telling everyone and the second trimester

Best moment of the week: pretty bleak around here lately. :(

7 weeks with baby #2

How far along: 7 weeks

How big is baby: a Blueberry. baby center's info on baby growth at 7 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Down 4 lbs

Stretch marks: None yet this time. But, I'm sure they'll come.

Sleep: Vivid dreams started already leaving me feeling unrested when I wake. Frequent peeing (5-7 times no joke) doesn't help.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Averse to just about everything. I get a random craving like a lions choice roast beef sandwich or el maguey and I can keep it down if I'm really craving it. Those were the only 2 meals in the 7 day period that I knew as I was eating it that it would stay down and wouldn't hurt. Most things turn my stomach as I'm eating them. Thank God for granola bars.

Movement: None yet. I felt Cole earlier than the average woman does at 12 weeks. I was a lot thinner then tho but I've also had a kid already and know what to look for so it could go either way.

What I'm worrying about: Not much. Just keeping my head down and Vicks on my nose until the end of the first trimester (gives me more reaction time to smells).

What I'm loving: Not much at this point. I'm so grateful for this little miracle but I truly can't wait to be past the first trimester. I wish the stork was a real thing...or at least I do until around 14 weeks. Then I love being pregnant.

Symptoms: Nausea. Extreme fatigue. I had to stop my prenatal vitamins half way through the week. They make me sick the entire day even if I take them on a full stomach as I'm falling asleep. I've tried everything including different brands. If I don't take it, I still have queasy times during the day but I can actually eat and keep my food. I have yet to actually throw up but I've been kneeling at that throne many times already and have been able to stay strong through sheer will power. I'm starting to loose that battle which is why I have to take a few weeks off the prentals. My OB said it was fine when I called to ask and they said to try to take flintstone vitamins. I'm trying but even they set me off for hours. I took a few weeks off of the prentatals with Cole's pregnancy too and it got me through.

How can watching my two year old run around exuberantly even make me nauseated?

What I'm looking forward to: Getting anxious to have an explanation why I am zero fun and decline every invitation right now.

Best moment of the week: Getting to tell my family and some of Greg's. We haven't gotten to tell the rest of his but we're hoping to fit it in soon. Schedules have been off and lots of his family has been sick. We're not going anywhere near that again. We want to tell them face-to-face.

6 weeks with baby #2

How far along: 6 weeks

How big is baby: a Lentil Bean. baby center's info on baby growth at 6 weeks

The flu didn't help anything.

Movement: None yet. I felt Cole earlier than the average woman does at 12 weeks. I was a lot thinner then tho but I've also had a kid already and know what to look for so it could go either way.

What I'm worrying about: A little bit more spotting. I had none of this with Cole. Its unsettling and throws me off until it stops. I try not to be obsessive but thats just downright scary.

Then there was a whole slew of new symptoms due to the flu but we're going to try to forget those asap. Had to run to the bathroom because of a picture of someone's chicken wings on facebook.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting anxious to tell family.

Best moment of the week: Maybe not best but sure is funny (hind-sight). I was climbing into bed and I said to Greg "I suddenly feel hungry. Like, nauseatingly hungry. No...wait...just nauseated." Its crazy how fast my stomach can turn. I have to constantly be grazing.

About Me

My photo
I'm a new wife and an even newer mom. I have a secret dream to be super-mom. I love to craft, cook, dance and fill my life with as many adventures as possible. I'm slightly crunchy granola but enjoy a good steak. I'm right brained and type B (with some type A tendencies). I thrive best when I get to use my creative juices. I dabble in photography and party planning. I play piano and have a dream to learn the cello. I want to make the most of this one, short life I find myself living.

About This Blog

This blog was originally intended to be a personal journal of my pregnancy journey and all that that entails--shared with only a few close family members. It was a way for me to keep them posted on all things baby and occasionally post a picture of my growing torso so they could see the progress. After several posts, I started to get hooked on other blogs and became motivated to attempt to do more with mine. We'll see how it goes....
